🔍 New review paper: focus on regenerative skin cell types
In this review, Can summarizes findings on specialized cell types that arise during appendage regeneration, with a particular focus on regenerative skin cell populations. https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/physiology/articles/10.3389/fphys.2021.771040/full

đź“— New review paper: appendage regeneration is context-dependent at the cellular level
Here, Can discusses how distinct cell types contribute to rebuilding different appendages, such as tails and limbs. This review challenges one-size-fits-all models of regeneration and highlights the importance of cellular context. https://royalsocietypublishing.org/rsob/article/11/7/210126/91068/Appendage-regeneration-is-context-dependent-at-the

🎉 Final PhD work laying the foundation for the lab’s research is published
We constructed a comparative single-cell transcriptomic map of regenerating and non-regenerating frog tadpole limbs, showing that regeneration reuses some of the limb-development–related cell populations. We further demonstrated that secreted inhibitory signals, arising from cartilage and bone, progressively restrict regenerative competence, reframing regeneration loss as an actively regulated process driven by the cellular environment. https://journals.biologists.com/dev/art
